A service call fee includes both the trip fee and diagnostic fee. This is the cost to have an appliance repair technician come out to the customer’s home or business and diagnose the problem as to why the appliance is not working properly. After diagnosis, the technician can provide the customer with an estimate of how much the repair will cost. Even if a customer does not approve the repair, the service call fee is still due.

Starting 2023, the service call fee is $195. Certain parts of the Portland Metro Area can be subject to a higher fee. We always recommend calling our office to determine accurate pricing. Additional appliances are subject to a diagnostic fee of $82.
Yes. For an emergency service call, the fee is $295. This covers both the trip and diagnostics. Labor and parts are additional charges.

Appliance repair labor costs are not charged by the hour. Rather, we charge by the job which is called Flat Rate Labor. Starting 2021, labor starts at $120.

The appliance repair cost includes the service call fee, labor, and parts, if parts are needed. The minimum for a repair would be the service call of $195 plus the minimum labor of $120, which adds up to $315. Repair costs vary significantly depending on appliance, manufacturer, and the part(s) needing replacement.

The service call fee does not goes toward the repair cost. They are separate charges.

For emergencies and urgent needs related to a large residential appliance, please do the following:

Gas Leaks: Leave the home and call NW Natural Gas. If you smell a gas odor or need to report a gas emergency call NW Natural Gas Emergency Line at 800-882-3377. For more tips from NW Natural Gas, please click here.

Burning smell, smoke, or fire: If you notice any sparks or burning smells, it’s important to shut off the power immediately by either unplugging the suspected appliance or turn off the power at the circuit breaker.  Depending on the circumstances, contact a licensed electrician or your local fire department.

Water leaks: Turn off the main water line. If you cannot turn off the water by yourself, contact a plumber immediately to help you turn it off.

Refrigerators/Freezers not cooling: First make sure unit has power and all doors are completely closed. If you cannot move food to another fridge or freezer, you can purchase dry ice and place it in both the freezer and fridge until service can be provided. (Note. Dry ice is much colder than regular ice, and can burn the skin similar to frostbite. You should wear insulated gloves when handling it. Wear safety glasses and a face shield if you are cutting or chipping it. Keep dry ice out of the reach of children.)

For any other large appliance service needs, you may try to reset the appliance by turning the associated breaker switch off for five minutes and then turning the breaker switch back on. You may also try unplugging the unit for five minutes and then plugging the unit back in.

If an issue continues when the appliance is connected to power (E.g. a cooktop burner not turning off), disconnect the appliance from the power source either by turning the associated breaker switch or by unplugging unit. Keep the appliance disconnected until service can be provided by a licensed professional.

In all cases, please don’t hesitate to call our company at (503) 777-6450. If the office is closed, leave a message in the Emergency Service Request Mailbox. If a technician is available, a dispatcher or technician will contact you within 2 hours. Otherwise our office will return your call to assist you when our office reopens.
